May/June Recap: Teaching and Travel

The end of May brought the end of the semester in Balige. Shortly before that, I helped lead a retreat for the 3rd year students, who are now soon to graduate.

To start off the month of June, I took a few days in Kuala Lumpur. It was another forced vacation of sorts, since the visa still was not clear, I had to exit and re-enter…again.

In Balige in June, the students were divided and the 2nd and 3rd year students had German and I taught the 1st year students English. When it came time to teach at the university at the end of June, some of the students, having seen via facebook that my birthday had passed, asked if they could celebrate with me. I thought that was a good idea, so I treated them all to dinner, and they provided the cake.

We had guests who dropped in from a partner church in Germany for an hour one day. Their visit was short, and we talked about the program and gave a quick tour of the school grounds. The leader of the HKBP denomination was also on hand, and he posed for a quick photo.
